A Long Time Ago

It seems like a long time ago, but this is me.... 22 years old. My friends and I waterskied 5 times a week. It was like we were training... always trying to cut harder and lower. In the winter it was hockey, and filled in the fall with tennis and football. We were always active, and having fun. Why is it that as we grow older that all seems to stop (at least it did for me)? When I was young I never saw my dad swim.... he could swim, but it was like he was too old it seems. At this rate my kids won't remember me swimming. I used to swim all summer long... we live a 5 min walk away from a choice of 3 lakes to swim in. These days I might only swim once a year.
NOT ANY MORE!!
I want to do all these things and I am going to find time to do it, for me and my family!

  1. It's funny I said the same thing to your wife...that I never saw my parent's be active when I was little...and how I want our daughter to see us be active so she sees that it's a way of life.

    Way to go!!!!

and yay you wrote a blog...I kept checking ;)

  2. I apolgize for my wife's heartless sarcasm, she knows not what she does..... LOL!!! Good on you man for jumping on this blog train. i find it very therapeutic. I have to admit that i was very active as a kid as were my parents but times are different now and leisure time is much harder to come by. Becca comes and watches me play softball and she will be riding her bike like crazy this summer with me because I have not been setting an example for her like I can and i will. pam and I will be up on weekends to make use of those lakes as well by the way, my mom has a trailer in Gravehurst that we plan on using so heads up!!!! ;)

  3. I'm so happy you decided to blog. Like Kevin said, it IS therapeutic. Life has to be fun. It has to be enjoyable. The only way to ensure that is to become fit so that option is there. I'm totally with you hon. Gonna get this family fit, healthy, active and start having fun. We're only as old as we feel. Time to stop feeling old, right?! I'm proud of you. xo
